Pole Vault Carolina will host a boys and girls decathlon on Friday July 22 and Saturday July 23 at Cary Academy!
This is a unique opportunity for girls to participate in a decathlon as it is rarely contested for women / girls! Training for and competing in a decathlon will increase an athlete’s overall athleticism.
In a positive environment, athletes will compete in:
Day 1: 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400 meters
Day 2: 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, 1500m
Boys will compete using: 39″ hurdles, 5.4KG shotput, 1.6kg discus, and 800g javelin.
Girls will compete using: 33″ hurdles, 4.0 kg shotput, 1.0 kg discus and 600 g javelin.
In order to set athletes up for success, and deal with potential adverse weather, start times will be announced closer to the date.
Decathlon practices will take place on the following Mondays:
June 27, July 11, and July 18 from 6-7:30 pm.
Practice will focus on hurdles, long jump, starts, shotput, discus, javelin, and high jump. The cost for these sessions is a regular session fee.
The cost to participate in the decathlon on July 22-23 is $75.
If you wish to be included in communications for the decathlon, please text me at 919-523-8333.
We will need many volunteers! Parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, and non-participating athletes, please advise if you can assist on July 22-23, 2022.
We encourage all athletes to participate and expand what you are capable of! Please advise of any questions you have.
