On Saturday October 26, 2019, Pole Vault Carolina will host a pole vault clinic with Virginia Tech CoachesBob Phillips and Deakin Volz!

Deakin Volz is a three-time ACC champion, the Virginia Tech Indoor School Record Holder, a six-time NCAA All-American, a two-time NCAA bronze medalist, and the 2016 World U20 champion. He is also a former U.S. high school record holder. Deakin has a personal best of 18’7″ and is currently training at Virginia Tech in preparation for the 2020 Olympic Trials and is also a volunteer assistant coach for the Hokies.

Bob Phillips is the long-time pole vault coach for the Virginia Tech Hokies. During his tenure he has coached 23 different athletes in 71 NCAA finals where they earned 50 All-American honors. Since joining the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2005 Virginia Vaulters have won more ACC vault titles than all other schools in the conference combined. Coach Phillips also competed for Virginia Tech where he earned All-American honors and three Metro Conference titles. Coach Phillips has a lifetime best of 18′ 1/2″.

This clinic is open to athletes of all age and skill levels.
