The Dream Chasers
On Monday January 8, the club hosted The Antonio San Miguel Birthday Invitational. Sixteen athletes showed up to pursue their pole vault dreams.
Panther Creek Junior Maura Lane and Leesville Road Junior Elise Hall jumped with intent to vault the qualifying mark for New Balance Nationals. Both girls cleared 11’7”. Elise went on to jump 12’, with Maura narrowly missing the same height.
On the boys’s side, it was a 13-13-13 showdown, as Carter Pehr (Green Hope), Tommy Keech( Wakefield) and Ellis Woodyard (Broughton) peaked at this mark.
Lucy Kraus, Polyna Uzun, and Reilly Carlson competed for the first time at this meet. Lucy, Polyna, and Reilly have been regularly attending our Beginner Clinics and it was time to test the strength of their foundation in the sport. Each girl cleared multiple heights, and it is our hope that with their clearances, new pole vault dreams were born.
