Perseverance is defined as steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.

My daughter Sofia has a great story on perseverance.

It has been 78 weeks since she became a collegiate athlete. She has endured:

390 practices
5 injuries
234 jump sessions
4680+ jumps in practices

550 days of chasing the dream of a new PR, all without improving her high school PR.

And then on day 551, a new PR!

Congratulations Sofia! It takes a special person to endure the journey. You have demonstrated one of the most valuable traits a person can have, the ability to keep moving forward when giving up is not an option. Way to go Sofia!

So next time you hear of someone thinking about quitting, remind them of Sofia’s story.
