The Pole Vault Carolina Decathlon – More Than Sport!

Sixteen athletes competed in the Pole Vault Carolina Decathlon last weekend and truly wowed us with their tenacity. Fifteen of those athletes had never attempted a decathlon before. We asked each athlete to set a goal to finish, and they did! There were many highlights, and one stands out above the rest: our youngest decathlete was 9 year-old Grant Elliott. Pole Vault Carolina will host a boys and girls decathlon on Friday July 22 and Saturday July 23 at Cary Academy! The 2022 Adidas Outdoor National Championships!

The following Pole Vault Carolina athletes qualified for compete at The 2022 Adidas Outdoor National Championships! Jon Horn, Jack Tan, Julianna Hallyburton, Summer Laskey, Abigail Cornell, Colin Johnson, Alden Bryson, Danica McCarron, Lloyd Armstrong, Noah Rhodes, Maddie Davies, and Bailey Tart. Jon Horn finished 4th in the championship section earning All-American status! Bailey Tart took 2nd place, Summer Laskey tied for 5th, and Julianna Hallyburton placed 6th in the elite section! The 2022 Outdoor Season came to a close this weekend with the NCISAA and NCHSAA State Championships. Pole Vault Carolina athletes participated in 8 contests and secured 5 state titles, 1 second place finish, 2 third place finishes, and 1 fourth place finish! On Saturday April 16, our Pole Vault Carolina community came together for a purpose higher than the bar – to gather donations and raise money for refugee children in Ukraine.  We opened the event with a video message from Steve Chappell of UCS Spirit and a letter from Ukrainian Olympian Yana Hladiychuk.
